About

The Frilly Apron is a collection of food creations, advice, instruction, experiments, and occasional mishaps. Here you’ll find lots of delicious recipes, how-to’s, how-not-to’s, and kitchen gadget trials, along with the occasional dry meatloaf, and lots of dry humour. You’ll also find cookbook reviews and links to food articles and other food blogs.

My name is Tara MacKenzie. I’m the girl wearing the frilly apron around here. I live just outside Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada in a rural community called McLeod Hill. I’m originally from another small community outside Fredericton called Minto, New Brunswick. My husband and I hope to move back there in the next couple of years.

I am no professional chef. Everything I’ve learned in the kitchen I’ve learned from family, friends, and on my own.I am an actually just an IT professional who loves to eat! I love all things food, from a home cooked breakfast, to a trip to the candy store, to cookbooks and kitchen gadgets.

I dream of being a farmer.

I long to see New Brunswick recognized as part of Canada’s culinary culture. We are so much more than a province that produces potatoes. NB is a diverse area, with a diverse agricultural platform, whose farmers produce amazing products. I hope this blog can help raise awareness and pride in our little province and beyond.

I’ve recently expanded the blog to include a section called Frilly Baby. My husband and I are expecting our first baby in April 2014. The Frilly Baby is serving as a place I can keep my extended family up to date on our pregnancy and family progress.

I am always looking for new opportunities to grow and expand The Frilly Apron and myself. If you’d like to contact me to discuss any potential opportunities or partnerships, or just to chat or make a suggestion, please email me at thefrillyapron@gmail.com. I look forward to hearing from you!
