Part soft breadstick, part biscuit – these cheese twists are super cheesy and completely addictive!
Cheese Twists
3 Tbsp shortening
1 scant cup flour
2 Tbsp corn starch
1 cup grated cheese (I used emmental and cheddar)
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp garlic powder
pinch cayenne or smoked paprika
cold water to make a stiff batter – I used 5-6 Tbsp
Preheat oven to 400F.
In a large bowl, cream shortening and cheese together.
Add flour, cornstarch, and salt. Add seasoning.
Mix with enough cold water to make a stiff dough.
Roll out to approximately 1/4 inch thick and cut into strips. Twist!
Bake for 12-14 minutes, until lightly golden brown.
